Finished!

3 Musketeers

My instrument was an acustic guitar. During my performance I tried to act very enthusiastic. However, when I stepped in front of the class, a huge cloud of nerves hovered over me! Luckily, after the first minute I calmed down and rocked out! I played nice and loud so the entire class could here. As a group, we started off a little slow and only practiced about 6 times together. We could’ve been sharper if we had started earlier and practiced more.

In order to achieve maximum sound, I attached a sound box, (big empty can of beans), to amplify the sound. The vibrations from the guitar strings went in the box, and then echoed back out. Also, I screwed down the white strip of wood at the end of the guitar to keep the strings off the wood so they were free to vibrate. I think my guitar might have been too wide. When I played it, I had to lay it on a surface because it was too bulky to hold and play at the same time.

I believe Mr. T assigned a long-term project to show us that success takes time and effort. Trial and effort was a key concept in this project. I had to try, try, and try some more until I finally got my guitar to sound nice. This long-term project taught me that to be successful, one has to work hard, practice, and plan out what he or she has to do. The performers that followed these three ethics were rewarded with their performances, and so was my group.

- We played “Joy to Tillay” for our extra credit song. The actual song was the same as “Joy to the world,” we just made up our own words to the song.

Grading:
- I believe Rachel Santiago earned a B+ for her xylophone.
- I believe Kylee Knighten also earned a B+ for her work ethic and because even after failing with her first two instruments, she still wound up making a nice “glass machine.”
- I deserve an A because I worked the hardest out of my group. I was the one that initiated all our practices and stayed on top of all the project assignments.

Awards:
- We believe that Bomb Squad won the 1st place prize. Their group sounded the best and were very good entertainers.
- We believe that we deserved 2nd place. Our group sounded pretty good and was very enthusiastic.
- We believe 3rd place should go to Hella Dope. Their music was good but they just weren’t good performers.
- In our opinion, best instrument went to Marina Combs. 2nd place was Val Artgae’s propane tank. And 3rd place was Alex’s ukulele.

Extra Day

We didn't get to present today so we had another practice. This time it was held at 4:00 after school at Kylee's house. We decided were just going to play two song: "pink panther" and "joy to the world." Joy to the world is sounding better then pink panther though.

Also today at school, two of my guitar strings broke! So today I also had to buy more guitar strings. After I attached them they sounded back to normal.

Last practice day!

Well I got to Rachel's house at about 4:00 pm. We practiced till about 6. Well the good news is that we got one song that we can play pretty good, which is "joy to the world." The bad news is that that's all we have!
Pink Panther just is not sounding good and neither are any other songs. We tried to make our own song; that wasn't a good idea. So tomorrow is the big day and it is looking like were not going to play 3 songs like we were hoping to do.

Recording Blogs

I don't have computer access everyday so up to this date I've wrote down what I've done instead of blogging. So today i'am recording all that i've done so far. I wrote down the date and times so I could add them all on.
I talked to my partners today and tomorrow were going to hold another practice. This time were going to meet after school at Rachel's house to practice.
Well time is money so blog you later!

Brain storming

Today at school my partners and I brain stormed about possible song we could play. We pretty much decided that one of the songs will be "joy to the world." However, we want to play more than one song so here's a list of possible songs:
  1. Roodoff the Red Nose Reigndear?
  2. Twinkle twinkle little star
  3. Create our own song
  4. And of course Pink Panther

Sounds good?

Today I just tuned my strings to try and replicate the sound a real guitar makes, well atleast to the best of my ability. I try'd tuning the strings by hand but it was too hard. After geting a few cuts in my hand I realized that I needed to use something else. So i use some pliers from my garage and they worked just fine.

Strings be gone!

The strings at the end of my guitar were just in the way and unnecessary. So I brought out the bog boy tool (scissors) and went to work. I just cut off the hanging string, that's all.
